Application to amend zoning for 150 to 152 Albert Street

Changes to the Official Plan and the Zoning Bylaw for this location are required before a permit can be issued. This means that they submit an application that is reviewed by city planners and other agencies plus city council before anything can be built.

Wilfrid Laurier University is proposing interior renovations to the existing building to repurpose the semi-detached dwelling for office, academic and ancillary uses associated with Wilfrid Laurier University. The University intends to use the building as the Grad House.

Official plan changes requested include:

  • allowing university academic uses within the existing building which are not currently allowed

Zoning bylaw changes requested include:

  • rezoning from Residential Conservation One (RC1) to Residential Conservation One (RC1)
  • allowing University/College uses
  • allowing a minimum distance from the rear property line of 10.0 metres, where it requires 11.85 metres
  • allowing a minimum distance from the side property line of 2.9 metres, it requires 4.23 metres
  • allowing a reduced parking requirement of 1 parking space from 3 parking spaces
