The City of Waterloo’s Planning Division is proposing general amendments to the Zoning Bylaw 2018-050. This application is primarily intended to update the by-law to reflect changes due to the Province’s “Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022 and “Bill 109, More Homes for Everyone Act, 2022”. Additional by-law amendments are being considered to address inconsistencies and to improve clarity.

Amendments under consideration include:

  • updates throughout the by-law to permit up to three dwelling units on residentially zoned properties in alignment with Bill 23 and the Official Plan
  • review the requirement for site plan endorsement as a condition of holding symbol (H) removal in the Northdale neighbourhood
  • update bylaw definitions to clarify intent and remove ambiguity. For example, the Landscape Open Space definition.
  • miscellaneous updates throughout the by-law to correct inconsistencies and to improve clarity

The draft amendments report is under review and will be shared at a later date.
