The City of Cambridge has identified that two parks are set for equipment replacement, approved as part of the 2023 budget by Council:

  • Otto Klotz Park
  • Red Wildfong Park

Your input helps us choose the right play equipment for your neighbourhood - budget, maintenance, making the play equipment fun for everyone, and comments from community members are all considerations. Complete the surveys below and provide your feedback. The Phase 1 survey closed on January 13th, 2023. The Phase 2 survey closed on May 31st, 2023.

Playground replacements could include:

A change to the kind of play features like climbing structures, swings, and slides or new colour palettes.

The equipment is installed with wood fibre safety surfacing and is suitable for ages 2 to 12. It’s built to meet the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) criteria for safety and accessibility.

Playground replacements do not include:

Building large amenities such as splashpads. These amenities are not a part of park replacement projects at this time.

How does the neighbourhood replacement program work?

The City regularly inspects existing playgrounds and identifies those in need of replacement on an as-needed basis as determined by the Capital Budget process.

For more information, visit the Capital Budget page of the City of Cambridge's website.

What's next?

In phase 1, feedback from this community was collected and analyzed in the first survey. It was used to develop requirements for the design of new play equipment. The feedback helped the City describe to playground designers what equipment the park should have.

In phase 2, two (2) play equipment choices were reviewed and shown in the second survey. Full documents with more images are included on the right side of the page labelled under "Playground Documents."

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE - OCTOBER 2023

After reviewing all of the survey submissions, the playgrounds that will be installed this October at Otto Klotz Park and Red Wildfong Park have been chosen by the public.

The play equipment that will be installed at Otto Klotz Park is Play Equipment A.

The play equipment that will be installed at Red Wildfong Park is Play Equipment B, with the addition of one (1) added tot swing to the Swing Set.

Construction will begin in the following weeks, and take approximately four weeks to complete. The public is asked to keep out of any fenced areas until inspections are finished and all fencing is removed. Thank you for your continued patience while construction is underway.

CONSTRUCTION NOTICE - NOVEMBER 2, 2023

The installation of the playground equipment has been rescheduled due to equipment manufacturing delays. Construction will be completed by November 30th, dependant on the weather.
