A new design for Alpine Park
Alpine Park is an existing park in the Alpine neighbourhood that has a small wooded area, play equipment and is linked by a trail network to two adjacent school properties. The wooded area is an incredible asset to this park space and a focal point within the neighbourhood. Consultants from SHIFT Landscape Architecture have been engaged to lead the redevelopment of this park including conceptual design, final design, through to construction completion.

Amanda Oliverabout 2 years agoI vote Option 1
I think option 1 uses the whole space of the park better than option 2. And for the safety of the children it would be better to have open space away from the road in my opinion.

We like concept 1 a lot. It would be nice to have some natural play elements along with the traditional playground, for some variety. I really appreciate the nice shaded area near the playground.

However, we're disappointed that there is no hard surface for basketball/ball hockey. Can this be a consideration? The hard surface could be the ice rink in the winter.

Both concepts are very exciting! We generally like the flow of the design 1 much better, but the size of the community garden in the design 2 looks bigger, which we like a lot more (although it is a little hard to tell if they are the same size or not). The forest interpretation spaces and the outdoor learning space in design 1 are also great, especially with all the schools in this area. We believe the "mowed meadow path" in design 2 is not really necessary and would take more resources to continuously manage. Exciting developments though! :)

I look the full shade and do not like the dabbled shade, I like the natural play area . I like the ice rink close to the road I am disappointed that there is no pathway running behind the houses from the sidewalk to the baseball diamonds.

I walk in the forest every day of the year. Could you make a large trail of whole forest with a trail in the middle and several enter/exit paths? A natural playground for toddlers and older children would be a nice upgrade. Many families use the park on a daily basis.
0 comment3Kalpana Vermaover 2 years agoNo dogs at kids play area
I was bullied and abused by dog owner when asked to leash their dog bcz dog may get scared by unknown kids who are running and screaming around them. My son is 4 was trying to touch the dog. Dog was peeing on slides poles.
