Angewood Park Playground Replacement

Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Linkedin Email this link

The City of Cambridge has identified that the playground at Angewood Park is ready for replacement. When play equipment is replaced, things such as budget, maintenance, how to make the play equipment fun for everyone, and comments from community members are all considerations. Your participation helps us choose the right play equipment for your neighbourhood. Our Phase One survey closed on April 24th. Our Phase Two survey closed on September 30th.

What it is

Replacements could include a change to the kind of play features like climbing structures, swings, and slides or new colour palettes for the playground.

The equipment installed is suitable for ages 2-5 and ages 5-12 and is built to meet the Canadian Standards Association's (CSA) criteria for safety and accessibility.

What it isn’t

Playground replacements do not include building splashpads and other large amenities. These amenities are not a part of replacement projects at this time.

How does the neighbourhood replacement program work?

The City regularly inspects existing playgrounds and identifies equipment in need of replacement on an as-needed basis as determined by the Capital Budget process.

When will your neighbourhood playground equipment be replaced? Your local playground may not be identified as ready for replacement at this time.

What's next?

Our phase 1 survey feedback from this community was collected and analyzed. It was used to develop requirements for the design of new play equipment. The feedback helped the City describe to playground designers what equipment the park should have.

In phase 2, three (3) play equipment choices were reviewed and shown in the survey for the public to decide which design fits the needs of the neighbourhood park the best.

Now, the community has chosen the Playground with Orange Slides (Option A) which will be installed July 2023! In keeping with the chosen theme of dark green, light green and orange, a fourth colour was added to provide the equipment better visibility in the park and keep the colour scheme fun.

AUGUST 2023 UPDATE: ANGEWOOD PARK PLAYGROUND IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Thank you for your continued patience during playground construction. After recent upgrades to the playground, bench installations have been delayed and will be installed as soon as possible.

OCTOBER 2023 UPDATE: CONSTRUCTION ON THE PARK IS COMPLETE

Thank you for your support while construction was on-going. The park construction is now complete.
