View the full update here

As winter begins to loosen its grip on us, the Region and our contractor are busily preparing for this year's work on King Street in Cambridge.

Beginning next week, our contractor Navacon will start to remobilize to the street, preparing to finish the work between Dover Street and Laurel Street (Stages 1 & 2) that we started in 2019 and start work between Laurel Street and Bishop Street (Stages 3 & 4). Refer to our key map for the limits of the project stages.

Actual work is expected to start the week of March 16th.

Work between Dover Street and Laurel Street (Stages 1 & 2) this spring will include:

  • Installation of the new street lights, trees, benches, planters, garbage receptacles and decorative features;
  • Complete removal and replacement or the sidewalks;
  • Restoration of all areas disturbed in 2019.
Work between Laurel Street and Bishop Street (Stages 3 & 4) this year will include:
  • Replacement of sewers and watermain;
  • Reconstruction of the road including new asphalt, concrete curbs, and sidewalks
For this year's work, one lane of traffic in each direction traffic will be maintained similar to our work in 2019. Between Dover Street and Laurel Street, the removal of on-street parking will be necessary, but will be for a shorter duration that in 2019. Between Laurel Street and Bishop Street, on-street parking will be removed to allow our Contractor to safely and efficiently complete their work.

We appreciate the community's continued understanding as we complete this important work.
