One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction, similar to 2019. Between Dover Street and Laurel Street, the removal of on-street parking will be necessary, but will be for a shorter duration than in 2019. As crews finish the sidewalks, landscaping and streetlights block by block, on-street parking will be reinstated.

Between Laurel Street and Bishop Street, on-street parking will be temporarily removed within the active construction zone to allow our Contractor to safely and efficiently complete their work.

Progress Since Last Update:

  • Concrete removal and temporary asphalt removals has been completed in Stages 1 and 2
  • Tree soil cell installation on the North side of King Street
  • Streetlight installations continue in Stages 1 and 2
  • Testing and commissioning of temporary watermain in Stage 3

Upcoming Work over the next few weeks:

  • Tree soil cell installation to continue in Stages 1 and 2.
  • Sidewalk installation to continue in Stages 1 and 2.
  • Removal of temporary asphalt on the north side of King Street to continue in Stage 1 and 2.

  • The temporary watermain (blue pipe) is in place on the south side of King Street between Laurel Street and Chestnut Street (Stage 3), crews will continue with installing the temporary water service connections to buildings. These connections are all done from the outside of the building.
  • Asphalt removal on King Street in Stage 3

King Street from Dover Street to Lowther Street will be closed to traffic for three days starting on May 11. Crews will be installing small pipes under the asphalt across King Street for the traffic signals. Local access will be provided, but through traffic may not be permitted.

We appreciate the community's continued understanding as we complete this important work.
