Construction Update September 20, 2019

Traffic has been moved to the north side of King Street between Westminster Drive and Dover Street. One lane of traffic in each direction will be maintained during construction. For safety reasons, on-street parking on King Street will not be permitted within the construction zone.

A person has been stationed at Westminster Drive to provide pedestrian help while crossing King Street during the commute to school in the morning and from school in the afternoon. Help with crossing at this intersection will be available until the new traffic signals are operational.

Progress since last Update:

· Curbs have been placed in Stage 2, between Westminster Drive and Lowther Street

· Watermain installation in Stage 1 is complete. Watermain testing to start next week.

· Paving is complete in Stage 1.

Upcoming work over the next couple of weeks:

· Temporary asphalt sidewalks will be placed next week on the north side of King Street.

· Traffic in Stage 2 between Westminster Drive and east of Lowther Street is anticipated to be moved to the north side of the street the first week of October.

· Milling and removals on the south side of King in Stage 2, between Westminster Drive and east of Lowther Street during the first week of October.

New subdrains (under gravel pile at left of picture) are installed before road gravel is placed. These drains help remove water from directly under the asphalt to help keep the road strong and last longer. (Stage 2)
