Project introduction

The City of Waterloo has initiated a Schedule ‘B’ Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) Study to assess and select a preferred long-term solution for the Denholm Pond. The study will be conducted in accordance with the planning and design process for ‘Schedule B’ projects, as outlined in the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (EA) document, (October 2000, as amended in 2015), which is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act. The Class EA process includes public/external agency consultation, an evaluation of alternative solutions and alternative design concepts, an assessment of potential impacts associated with the proposed improvements, and the development of measures to mitigate identified impacts.

Public participation will form an integral part of the Class EA Study so that the ongoing concerns of the public and affected groups in the study area are identified, documented, and assessed. Residents adjacent to the pond will receive direct communication from the project team, and this page has been set up to provide information and for the public to provide feedback.

A public consultation centre (PCC) will be held in the fall of 2022. Notice for the PCC will be provided in advance, to enable the public to meet the project team and to provide feedback to better address the needs and opportunities of the pond.
