Consultation has concluded

This project supports the Region of Waterloo's strategic focus area(s):

Dundas Street NorthCambridge Active transportation improvements forDundas Street North from Roxboro Road to Hespeler Road

Active transportation improvements planned for a section of Dundas Street in Cambridge now include a multi-use trail, and the Region is seeking feedback on the preferred design.

The previously approved design for improvements to Dundas Street from Roxboro Road to Hespeler Road did not include cycling facilities due to the narrow roadway corridor. However, Regional staff found a way to accommodate these facilities by using narrower vehicle lane widths.

The project now includes:

  • Full reconstruction of the pavement structure from Roxboro Road to Easton Avenue;
  • Resurface existing asphalt from Easton Avenue to Hespeler Road;
  • New curb and gutter;
  • Replacement of the existing sidewalk on the west side of Dundas Street; and
  • Three-metre wide, two-way multi-use asphalt trail on the east side from Roxboro Road to Hespeler Road.

Please refer to the Document Library for the information package and drawings showing the Preferred Design Concept.

Improvements for this 400 metre section of roadway are expected to be completed in 2023 .

Other improvements to Dundas Street include on-road cycling lanes on the adjacent section of Dundas Street North from Roxboro Road to Franklin Boulevard, as well as on Main Street East from Franklin Boulevard to Chalmers Street.
