Route 59 travelling past Churchill Park

GRT is planning service improvements this September as part of the 2020 Transit Service Improvement Plan. Routes serving south Galt, Elmwood, Northview and Saginaw areas would be redesigned to provide direct connections, more travel options and to increase ridership long-term.

The changes proposed will:

  • Replace one-way loop routes with more direct two-way routes
  • Provide better weekend and evening service
  • Provide more direct travel to major destinations, including:
    • Ainslie Terminal
    • South Cambridge Shopping Centre
    • Cambridge Centre Station
    • Di Pietro’s Plaza
    • Franklin/Saginaw area (No Frills plaza, St. Benedict High School)

Does this mean the 58 will not run along Hilltop drive as this is used to pick up a lot of people, lot of apt will people trying to get to work Hopefully it still runs but I'm thinkng not Terrible idea how do we get to work and home again

Stops on Hilltop Drive would continue to be served by a modified Route 63, which connects you to South Cambridge Shopping Centre and Ainslie Terminal.

The new Route 63 would run every 30 minutes Monday to Sunday and every 60 minutes Sunday evenings.

In addition there would be new weekend service on Route 50, which serves the corner of Dundas Street and Elgin Street.
