More action sport parks coming to Waterloo

Consultation has concluded

We are planning more action sport parks across Waterloo to complement the popular flagship skatepark in uptown, on Father David Bauer Drive.

We've selected three locations for these new parks:

  • Albert McCormick Community Centre
  • Stork Family YMCA/John M. Harper Branch Library
  • RIM Park

New Line Skateparks Inc. is helping us plan and design the parks and we need your ideas!

Our survey is now closed

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback about the features they'd like to see in these action sport parks. You will be entered into a draw to win a skatebboard or BMX bike.

Next steps

The public, and those who completed our survey, will be invited to see preliminary designs of the new action sport parks based on the feedback provided. This will be an open house-style event where the draw for the skateboard and BMX bike will take place. We anticipate this event will take place in May or June, when the weather is better. Please stay tuned; we will post details as the date approaches.

More information

The City of Waterloo's action sports strategy provides a plan for the three most common action sports practiced within City of Waterloo public spaces: skateboarding, BMX and mountain biking. Participation in these sports has a broad appeal to both youth and young adults, as well as, an emerging family market, as adult action sport enthusiasts draw their children toward the sport. This strategy sets the vision, approach and actions necessary to guide the expansion of opportunities for urban action sports within Waterloo.
