Phase 2 Construction Update: May 1 to 5

Construction updates are being provided as a courtesy to keep residents appraised of upcoming work. Due to the nature of construction, schedules can quickly change and residents should be prepared for unexpected changes.

Due to the recent rain and forecast for more rain, please keep an eye on the weather forecast and use caution when driving on Herbert Street after a rain. The roadway may not be suitable for vehicles, as noted on page 6 of the information package provided to residents prior to the start of construction.

The following update is for the week of May 1st:

  1. Continue replacement of storm sewer, sanitary sewer and watermain within the intersection of Herbert and John Street East.
  2. Begin replacing storm and sanitary sewer starting at the intersection of John and moving southeast toward Union (pending completion of work in intersection).

Residents are asked to not park front of 33 or 37 John Street East starting the evening of May 1 and ending the evening of May 2. A City of Waterloo construction crew will be completing urgent repairs to a sanitary service lateral at 37 John Street East on May 2. This work is unrelated to the Herbert Street reconstruction being completed by Oxford Civil Group but may create additional construction traffic in the area. Please plan accordingly.

Please be advised that CN Rail is starting construction on the spurline rail tracks and may will block roadways in the neighbourhood over the next several weeks. The tentative schedule for this work is:

May 1 to 5 – Allan Street East

May 8 to 12 – John Street East

May 15 to 19 – Union Street East

May 23 to 26 – Moore Avenue South

May 29 to June 2 – Roger Street
