The City of Cambridge is reviewing voting methods for the 2022 municipal and school board elections. We would like your input into the October 2022 municipal election through the survey below. The feedback gathered from the survey will be used to inform a report that goes to Cambridge Council as planning for the 2022 municipal election begins.

The 2022 Municipal and School Board Election will be held Monday, October 24, 2022. If you are eligible to vote, you will vote for:

  • The Mayor
  • City Councillors
  • A school board trustee
  • Regional Councillors
  • Regional Chair

The survey is now closed.

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) produces the preliminary list of electors (PLE) for municipal elections that is available in the summer of 2022. Further details will be provided closer to the election including instructions on how to confirm if you are registered to vote in the Municipal and School Board Election.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and emergency planning measures, the City has implemented new procedures in the conduct of Municipal and School Board Elections in a pandemic and declared state of emergency scenario. This includes changes to accommodate public health recommendations that pertain to the polling station, staff, and voters. Should the pandemic be a factor in the 2022 Election, the City is well positioned and prepared to incorporate these procedures in its planning so that the Election can be conducted in the safest possible manner.

Ranked Ballots

As you will recall, the City of Cambridge included a question on the ballot in the 2018 Municipal Election to inquire about Ranked Ballots being used in future Municipal Elections.

In October 2020, the Province removed Ranked Ballots as an option for the delivery of Municipal Elections, at this time, the City of Cambridge is not pursuing the Ranked Ballot method for the 2022 Municipal Elections as a result of this legislative change from the Province. Should legislation change in the future to provide the opportunity for Ranked Ballots to be considered, staff will provide an update to Council.
