What we heard

Thank you to everyone who shared their ideas and feedback with us earlier this year. We heard from over 550 residents about community centre programming for adults aged 55 and older. Please read the summary of what we heard.

What we learned is that older adults in our community are especially interested in:

  • Expanded evening and weekend programming
  • Better promotion of programs and available financial assistance
  • More active living, wellness and learning programs
  • New culturally safe and accessible programs and services

Based on this, we are now in the process of expanding and developing tailored programs that promote Kitchener’s Age-Friendly vision to live well and age well. Learn more at kitchener.ca/OlderAdults

Try It for Free

One of the ways we are responding to your feedback is by offering the opportunity to try our older adult programming for free.

Between September 11 and 16, 2023, join us at select community centres for free demonstrations of seniors (55+) programs. No registration is required, but each class has limited capacity.

Check out the schedule for each day, then drop in to chat with instructors and find new programs to try. You can also pick up a paper schedule at any community centre.

For each class you attend, you’ll get an entry into a draw for a $50 gift certificate for city-run seniors programs. If you have any questions:
