Consultation has concluded

The purpose of this online Public Information Centre is to present the detail design of the Riverside Dam Replacement and to provide an opportunity for the public to ask questions and provide comments. The detail design of the Riverside Dam is now 30% complete. The work will generally include:

  • Construction of the new dam upstream of the existing dam alignment (east of the existing alignment)
  • Channel definition with flow within the historic river alignment

The work is tentatively scheduled to be constructed in 2022/2023 (subject to Council approval). The exhibits will present background information, existing conditions and the detail design of the Riverside Dam Replacement Project.

Why do the control gates need to be left open for months on end instead of only occasionally? The head pond vista was of significant importance to the community at every meeting over the past 10 years. This will be the only dam in the city altered in this way and it is unacceptable. In fact, the permanently closed sluice gates in our other dams are causing more damage

I would not like to see any whiffles installed in the river. Please leave the river and new dam as it was presented originally.
