    I lived a few blocks away from the Aud when it first opened. I remember going to public skating events there on weekends with my cousin who literally lived across the street on Borden Ave. I walked past the building every day for five years on my way to and from elementary school. My most vivid memories of the Auditorium are going with my Dad to watch the Dutchmen Senior A hockey team every week and then in 1958 seeing an NHL exhibition game between the Maple Leafs and the Red Wings. We had rink side seats and I got to see Gordie Howe up close. Loved the hotdogs at the concession stands too. A great building that was part of a memorable childhood.

    Growing up in KW and being in the Polish Dance group, there were many fond memories of performing at the Aud during Oktoberfest with lots of other ethinic dance groups. Enjoyed staying and dancing along with eating beer nuts and sausages! - Liz Skibicki

    In 1967 I was in Grade 2. Our class at school performed in a Centennial Celebration Concert at the Aud. We wore Amish styled outfits, performed our own music and sang our hearts out. It was basically an audition to perform at Expo 67. There was a mass choir in the seats below where the restaurant is now. Their choir gowns where red and white and formed the Canadian flag.

    My mother, who is now 94, and i saw Roger Whittaker at our Aud. Our seats were on the floor, very close to the stage. The concert was magnificent. It was so wonderful that we, simultaneously, started to cry. Here we are, thoroughly enjoying Roger and crying in harmony. I will never forget how close we were that evening.

    Kitchener hosted the 2008 MasterCard Memorial Cup and the final Championship game featured Kitchener Rangers and Spokane. Kitchener outplayed Spokane by a wide margin, but Spokane won 4-1. In the post-game ceremony, the presentation of the Memorial Cup was memorable when the cup was hoisted by a Spokane player.... and split into two pieces. That was the main photo on page one of the sports section of The Record newspaper.

    Sept 11th,2005 I was working a day shift at the time setting up for the Pearl Jam Concert and moving some barricades and rubber matting around the mixer booth at the South End. It was very dark and a lot of haze in the bowl.

    While I was setting up, a few sound crew were in the area as well and I started to talk with one of them. He was telling me to have a listen to the open band. He was saying that "the drummer was amazing and was out of this world you’ve got to hear her play". So we talked for a little bit longer while the opening band continued their sound check and I finished setting up the area. I said good bye to the guy and headed over to another staff member that I was working with and asked, “ I wonder when Pearl Jam is going to go on stage for their sound check”.

    My co-worker turned to me and said “Are you kidding, You’ve be talking with Eddie Vedder for the past 10 min.” Wow… Eddie Vedder must of thought ‘This guy doesn’t have a clue who I am, or he really doesn’t care.’ So…true story… I didn’t know who he was. Lol. I just figured this guy dressed in an army jacket and black jeans was one of the sound crew setting up for the concert. When I got home that night I told my wife about what happed to me and to this day this conversation comes up and my wife tells the story. She still can’t believe it and makes fun of me.
