Map of project limits

Road & Sewer improvements have been scheduled on Stirling Ave. S. between Greenbrook Dr. and Mausser Ave.

Specific improvements scheduled for this street are:

Upgrade the existing storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water mains.

  • Replace existing sanitary and water services from the new mains to the property line.
  • Curb and gutter, and sidewalks will be installed.
  • Upgrade the asphalt roadway.
  • Replace all driveway ramp entrances in concrete.

These improvements are being done to upgrade the existing, deteriorated underground services and above-ground surface features, in order to prevent future system failure.

In order to carry out these improvements, it will be necessary to close this street to through traffic. Prior to any road closure, signs will be posted on the approaching streets advising motorists of the date and the duration of the closure.

Pedestrian access will be maintained to all properties at all times and vehicular access to all properties within the construction area will be maintained for as long as possible. On-street parking permits, which will allow parking on adjacent side streets, will be hand-delivered to affected homes before vehicular access is cut off.

Progress and major milestones will be posted on this project page. Subscribe to get project updates by using the Stay Informed 'Subscribe' button.

We know it’s been some time since we’ve been in contact. We wanted to reconnect with you to see if you have any feedback, concerns or questions. If you’re curious about the construction work we’re doing, or what work is happening next, we can answer your questions.

Our construction inspector, Eric Costa, wears a white hard helmet and is on site full-time. The inspector is the first person to contact on site. If you require special access to your property for moving, or are waiting for a special delivery, give the inspector enough notice so your request can be accommodated, if possible.

We know the work during a reconstruction project is an inconvenience for you to get to your property. Please let us know if you need more temporary parking passes. We hope your waste is collected on the regular day as normal, and that you’ve been able to place your waste by the curbside by 7 a.m. The contractor should be relocating your waste as required and returning any containers belonging to you in a timely fashion. If there are any issues, please let us know.

This project was paused in late 2020 but is now ready to restart and be completed in the upcoming months. The work that will happen this year, will include the section of Stirling between Greenbrook and Homer Watson and include the intersection of Homer Watson. A new culvert will be installed, curbs installed, and the trails/sidewalks completed. Construction should begin in the first week of May and be completed mid-October.

We’re happy to meet with you, or discuss by phone, any concerns, or questions that you may have. Please do not hesitate to contact the city’s project manager by phone at 519-741-2200 ext. 7412 or by email at chris.spere@kitchener.ca.
