Will there be enough parking for other purposes? I often play hockey there on a Monday night and it is busy early on with children finishing up their skating lessons. All this is great, but there has to be parking. Sorry I can't take the bus with all my hockey gear on!

Thanks for your inquiry about parking at AMCC, and I'm sorry for the delayed response. There is plenty of parking available for visitors to the library, the community centre and the arena. We built a new parking lot near the library entrance off Glenelm Crescent, so visitors can now park in that new lot, in the original parking lot behind the facility, and along Parkside Drive. I've included a rendering of the available parking in case this helps to visualize the space. Rendering of available parking at Albert McCormick Community Centre

When will the RIM Park Bike park be completed?

Tom asked almost 3 years ago

Hi Tom, thanks for submitting your question! We do plan to start construction this fall, and hope to have it ready for use before the snow flies. This plan depends on site conditions, weather, etc. We look forward to breaking ground and seeing the park in action!

Hey is there an updated date to when the splash pad at Albert McCormick will be opened? All I've seen is "summer of 2021". Thanks, - Felipe

Felipe asked almost 3 years ago

Great question! Thanks for submitting it, Felipe! The Albert McCormick Central Plaza officially opens Friday, July 16. We plan to make an official announcement on Tuesday on our social media channels. Hope you enjoy the new space!

Will the plants and trees to be planted in these parks be species native to Waterloo Region or at least Ontario? I do hope that they are as this is far better for our local ecosystem. It will also set a good example of environmental stewardship and will help encourage residents to cultivate native habitats on their own property. Thanks for reading :)

Thank you for reaching out about the AMCC Central Plaza. The City of Waterloo promotes the planting of native species hardy to the Waterloo area and suitable for the urban environment.  We are happy to announce that the new park will be planted with a variety of native species including Maples and Ironwoods.
