Railway track
The Region of Waterloo owns the Waterloo Spur Line railway track that runs from the City of Kitchener to the Town of Elmira.

A section of this track is used for the LRT trains within the cities of Kitchener and Waterloo. The Region has a freight rights agreement with Canadian National Railway (CN) for the movement of goods along the Waterloo Spur Line.

Tourist Train
The Region also has an agreement with Waterloo Central Railway allowing them to run a tourist train on the Waterloo Spur Line track from Northfield Drive in Waterloo to the end of the line in Elmira. The tourist train stops at Northfield Drive in Waterloo, the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market, the Village of St. Jacobs and the Town of Elmira.     Filming at the Waterloo Central Railway St Jacobs Station November 1-4

    Please note that filming of a television series will be taking place at the Waterloo Central Railway Station in St Jacobs. Filming will take place on the railway. Please see the schedule below:

    For your information, the work schedule is as follows:

    Wednesday November 1: 7am-6pm (Prep Work)

    Thursday November 2: 7am-6pm (Prep Work)

    Friday November 3: 5am-12am (Filming)

    Saturday 7am-6pm (Wrap Up Work)
