RIM Park update

29 October 2025

Our next round of planting around RIM Park will include shade trees for the perimeter of the soccer fields, playgrounds and parking lots.

There will be a strip of naturalized plantings along University Ave to reduce mowing over some wet patches and provide shade for trail users. We will also plant about 40 trees on the medians, running from the firehall to the roundabout, to help shade the pavement and cool the surroundings.

All these trees will help provide a connection between our canopies so that pollinators have safe corridors within which to travel and complete their lifecycles.

Planting will wrap up here in mid-November.

Sample Tree Species: Basswood, American Beech, Hackberry, Sugar Maple, Honey Locust, Tulip Tree, Burr oak, Eastern redbud, pagoda dogwood, Resistant White Elm, Kentucky Coffeetree, Allegheny Serviceberry, White Pine, Blue Beech, Witch Hazel
