Where we're planting next: Laurelwood, St. Moritz and Royal Beech park

June 24, 2026

St. Moritz Park

Nn late June, early July, 120 trees will be added to create a buffer strip between backyards and the park. The trees will be a mix of small, medium, and large trees to fill in all layers of the canopy. The existing grass will remain between the trees to inhibit the growth of invasive plants. Mowing will be limited to the perimeter of the strip, along the interior of the park.

Laurelwood Park

Starting in early July, we'll be planting 161 new trees in the naturalized area behind the nearby houses and near the existing forest.

The trees will be native and a mix of sizes at maturity to fill all levels of canopy. Large shade trees will also be added along the pathway.

Tree types: Sugar Maple, White oak, Burr oak, Tulip tree, Ironwood, Hackberry, Chokecherry, Eastern Redbud, Serviceberry, Red Cedar, American Sycamore, Basswood, Red Maple

Trees for shade will be planted near the playground. A naturalized area of large shade trees and small understory trees will be planted surrounding the open field and along the path.
