The City of Waterloo has hired a qualified contractor to complete abatement work within the facility. This is part of the preparation for the future demolition the building at 250 Lincoln Rd.

This work involves the safe removal of asbestos-containing materials and other designated substances. Completing this in advance ensures that all hazardous materials are properly managed and removed prior to demolition, in accordance with applicable regulations and safety standards.

Abatement work is anticipated to begin as early as next week, April 1, 2026 . There may be some increased activity at the location during this time but the following plans should reduce disruption:

• Plan site operations will be minimized during school pick-up and drop-off times.
• Work vehicles and dumpsters will be positioned to reduce obstruction and maintain visibility in traffic areas around the site.
