Application to amend zoning for 380 Hagey Boulevard (Z-25-07)
Changes to the Zoning Bylaw for this location are required before a permit can be issued. This means that they submit an application that is reviewed by city planners and other agencies plus city council before anything can be built.
The University of Waterloo and the Kothari Group are proposing to build a new nine-storey hotel containing 216 guest rooms and a one-storey conference/banquet facility connected to the hotel, at 380 Hagey Blvd. The plan also includes 271 at grade parking spaces, 36 short-term bicycle parking spaces and an accessory restaurant, lounge and fitness amenities at grade.
Zoning bylaw changes requested include:
- permitting a Hotel use including ancillary restaurant and conference facilities
- permitting a banquet hall use
- allowing a patio within the flankage yard
- specifying the required amount of parking to be provided onsite
- reducing the required amount of bicycle parking
- reducing the required minimum tower stepback
- increasing the permitted architectural projection requirements
