As part of the Municipal By-law Compliance Strategy, the City of Cambridge is conducting a review of two key by-laws:
- Property Standards By-law: Click Here
- Lot Maintenance By-law: Click Here
The Property Standards By-law outlines the minimum standards for the maintenance and occupancy of properties within the City, ensuring buildings are safe, habitable, and free from hazards. The Lot Maintenance By-law sets requirements for the upkeep of exterior yards. Together, these by-laws help preserve the safety, welfare, and quality of life for all residents of Cambridge.
Did you know?
Property owners are responsible for conducting regular inspections of their properties to ensure compliance with all applicable by-laws.
We encourage all residents and property owners to take a moment to review both by-laws and share your thoughts.
Have Your Say!
Join the conversation and help shape the future of property standards and lot maintenance in Cambridge by completing our short community survey. Your feedback will help staff develop recommendations to improve these by-laws and ensure Cambridge remains a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable community for everyone.
Survey closes Thursday, November 30, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.
