We’ve got a brand-new electric Zamboni for the Carl Zehr Square ice pad, and we need your creativity to give it a name! This is your chance to leave your mark on one of our city’s coolest winter traditions.

This Zamboni isn’t just any machine, it’s a symbol of sustainability and community fun. By helping us name it, you’ll be part of a story that will roll across the rink all season long. Plus, it’s a great way to show off your creativity and Kitchener pride! Not to mention bragging rights for having named Kitchener City Hall’s Zamboni.

The winning name will be proudly displayed on our Zamboni with a brand-new decal, so everyone can see the name you helped choose as it glides across the ice.

The electric ice resurfacer is one of the first in the City’s fleet and will be used this winter on the ice rink at Carl Zehr Square. It was selected through a public procurement process. Produced by Zamboni Company, the electric ice resurfacing machine is manufactured locally in Brantford.

  • Share your name ideas online until the end of November. We’ll review all submissions and select a shortlist of the most creative names.
  • In December, vote for your favourite name. You can cast your vote online, at City Hall or at community centres and arenas.
  • We’ll announce the winning name and add it to the Zamboni in the new year.
