The Region of Waterloo is planning to make improvements to Ainslie Street in the City of Cambridge to address deteriorating infrastructure. Improvements on Ainslie Street, from Water Street South to Concession Street, and from Simcoe Street to Water Street North, include asphalt rehabilitation.

Improvements of other sections of Ainslie Street from Concession Street to Simcoe Street will include replacement of underground and surface infrastructure such as:

  • Sanitary and storm sewers
  • Transmission watermain
  • Traffic signals
  • Street lighting
  • Roadway base and asphalt
  • Concrete curb and gutter
  • Sidewalks

After completing two rounds of public engagement, the City of Cambridge and Regional staff are working together to review active transportation needs in downtown Cambridge. This review will help guide priorities and timing for several upcoming projects, including the Ainslie Street project.
