The Township of Wellesley has hosted the Backyard BBQ annual community event since 2017 with the first event in celebration of Canada 150. Many aspects of the event have remained the same since 2017 with resident participation consistent through the years. Council and staff are seeking feedback from the community on what they would like to see the event consist of moving forward.

The survey is open to all residents of the Township of Wellesley regardless of participation in past events. All feedback will be considered for future events (events are subject to Council approval during the annual budget process).

A look at past events

In 2016 the Township held forums with the objective to encourage residents in each ward to come out and see what is happening in the Township, specifically in their ward and hopefully motivate people to get involved in the community. In 2017 the Community Forum was held in conjunction with the Canada 150 Celebration held at the Township Administration Office. June 2018 was the first year the Township celebrated the community with the Backyard BBQ Community Event. The event ran again in 2019 and due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the event was cancelled for two consecutive years. The community welcomed the event back again in 2022 and 2023, and was as successful as ever. The event combined with the Township of Wellesley Recreation Complex Grand Opening in 2024 showcasing the amenities of the new Township Recreation Complex. The most recent event in 2025 was another year celebrated at the Township of Wellesley Recreation Complex, this venue offered residents an opportunity to gather, celebrate and explore what the Township has to offer.
