More bike parking and more car-free living spaces

Belmont is the perfect place for couples and families who want to live the no-car dream outside of Uptown; make some space for more taxpayers who don't have to use the infrastructure they pay for since they can walk/cycle to everything they need.

Add a performance & art/community spaces to the area

The performance space can be an outdoor stage/small-bandshell area, or in a cultural and community centre perhaps. Artist studios and rehearsal spaces could be bookable in a centre or in a few small locations sprinkled throughout the area. People should have more reasons to come to the area than just shopping. If community space is carved out, some can be returned to indigenous people also.

Remove one lane each direction for car traffic and turn it into a separated bike lane. No reason why Belmont Ave should have 2 lanes.

A grocery store

Work with commercial landlords and businesses to entice a grocery store to set up in Belmont Village. This will help improve the walkability of the neighbourhood.

Redo streetscape

Widen median and plant trees but leave room at each intersection ( union /Glasgow) for stage /performances. Keep outdoor restaurant areas but change on street parking to parallel parking on both sides of the street. Incorporate cycling facilities between sidewalk and on street parking allowing space for door swing of parked vehicles. Improve ped/cycling access on the east and west sides of the village (the large parking lot on the west and the Iron Horse trail on the east side). Lastly increase number of places for cyclists to park.
