The purpose of this online Public Information Centre is to present the progress of detail design of the roadway improvements on Black Bridge Road and Townline Road, and the realignment of the Black Bridge Road Bridge over the Speed River. The design addresses the current and future operational needs considering all modes of travel. The detail design is now 60% complete. Key elements of the project include:

  • Protection and conversion of the existing heritage bridge to a multi-use path crossing
  • Design and construction of a new bridge crossing over the Speed River
  • Improvements to Black Bridge Road and Townline Road
  • Replacement of the culvert at Irish Creek
  • Design and construction of a multi-use path on Black Bridge Road and Townline Road
  • Approvals and permits for the new bridge and culvert

Utility relocation work will begin in 2022 and construction of the improvements is tentatively scheduled to commence in 2023 (subject to Council approval).
