Cambridge - Maple Grove Road Improvements

Project Overview

The Region of Waterloo has studied improvements to Maple Grove Road from Hespeler Road to Vondrau Drive in the City of Cambridge. The Region engaged stakeholders, including the public, throughout the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Schedule C study. Future improvements include, but are not necessarily limited to:

• widening Maple Grove Road from two (2) to four (4) through lanes;
• intersection improvements;
• cycling and pedestrian facilities;
• drainage improvements;
• bridge widening;
• culvert extensions and replacements; and
• street lighting and landscaping

Background studies were completed to develop a recommended design alternative to meet the needs of the corridor. The first Public Consultation Centre (PCC #1) was hosted virtually from July 27, 2020 through August 31, 2020. The second Public Consultation Centre (PCC #2) was hosted virtually from June 28, 2021 through July 30, 2021 and provided an overview of the Project Team recommended design alternative for Maple Grove Road Improvements. Notice of Completion of Environmental Study Report

The Regional Municipality of Waterloo has completed a planning study in accordance with the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act following the process for Schedule C projects under Municipal Class Environmental Assessment to address required improvements on Maple Grove Road between Hespeler Road and Vondrau Drive in the City of Cambridge.

The Environmental Study Report is available for a 30-day public review and comment period in accordance with the requirements of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment. Subject to comments received, and receipt of required approvals, the project will proceed to detailed design. Construction will proceed subject to Regional Council Approval.

A printed copy of the Environmental Study Report is available for review during regular business hours through the Clerk’s Offices at either the Region of Waterloo (150 Frederick Street, Kitchener, Ontario) or City of Cambridge (50 Dickson Street, Cambridge, Ontario).
