What to expect during surface works

Work hours

Construction is expected to take place Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Occasionally, weekend work may be required between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Driveway access

Driveway access is expected to be unavailable for approximately 3 to 5 weeks while crews install curbs, sidewalks, driveway ramps and asphalt.

The length of the closure may vary depending on:

  • Construction progress
  • Time needed for concrete to harden
  • Weather conditions
  • Scheduling of specialized crews

The contractor will notify residents before driveway closures occur.

Temporary parking

Residents affected by driveway closures will receive temporary parking permits.

These permits allow parking beyond the standard three-hour limit and overnight on designated streets.

Typically, two permits are provided per property. If additional permits are needed, please contact the Site Inspector.

Please display permits on your dashboard and park only in approved locations.

Road and sidewalk access

Road and sidewalk restrictions will be in place throughout the work area.

Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times.

Temporary wooden walkways may be installed to help residents safely access their properties while new sidewalks are being built.

Accessibility

The contractor is responsible for maintaining safe pedestrian access wherever possible.

If you require accommodation, such as level-entry access or additional notice before disruptions, please contact the Project Manager.

Communication during construction

Construction staff may need to speak with residents about:

  • Driveway closures
  • Property access
  • Restoration work

Staff can be identified by their high-visibility clothing and company identification.

If you have questions on site, please ask for the Site Inspector.

Garbage and recycling

Place garbage, recycling and green bins at the curb before 7 a.m. on your collection day.

If needed, construction crews will move bins to an accessible collection location and return them after collection.

Please ensure your address is clearly marked on all bins.

Restoration

Areas affected by construction will be restored with sod, concrete and asphalt, as needed.

Any interlocking brick, flagstone or similar features that must be removed during construction will be reinstated.

Additional information about sod installation will be shared when restoration work begins.

Parking

On-street parking will not be permitted within active construction areas.

Vehicles that interfere with construction operations may be relocated at no cost to the owner.

For parking enforcement concerns, call 519-741-2345.

Moving and deliveries

If you are planning a move or expecting a large delivery, please contact the Site Inspector in advance.

We will do our best to maintain access to your property.
