The City of Cambridge is constructing a multi-use trail along the south side of Dunbar Road from Hespeler Road to Conestoga Boulevard. This project will be the third and final phase of the Multi-Use-Trail corridor on Dunbar Road. The previous two constructed phases on Dunbar Road included Phase 1, Concession Road to Industrial Road and Phase 2, Industrial Road to Hespeler Road.

The trail will close a gap in the cycling network and connect to existing infrastructure along Conestoga Blvd, Concession Rd, and future infrastructure along Hespeler Road. The project is expected to be primarily funded through a grant from the Federal Government’s Active Transportation Fund (currently pending approval).

The project is currently in preliminary design stage, and the City will be moving forward into detailed design following receiving public input through the Public Information Centre process. Design will involve narrowing sections of the road and will also include pedestrian crossover analysis just east of International Village Drive.

Project goals:

  • Provide an all ages and abilities cycling/walking connection
  • Enhance the cycling and pedestrian experience
  • Expand the City’s cycling network as per the Cycling Master Plan
  • Increase crossing opportunities for pedestrians and cyclists
  • Develop a design that supports traffic calming where possible

Public Information Centre (P.I.C.)

You are invited to attend an informal Public Information Centre (P.I.C) to review the proposed plans and see how they may affect your property, business, or residence. This ‘drop-in’ style information session provides you with an opportunity to review the project in detail with City and Project staff. Staff from the Infrastructure Engineering Department will be available to answer questions.

In an effort to host the Public Information Centre locally within the project limits, the venue and location will be held as follows:

Location: Islamic Centre of Cambridge - Hall B (Basement Level),1550 Dunbar Road, Cambridge, Ontario, N1R 8J5

Date: Tuesday, December 9, 2025
