Eby Farm Playground
The City of Waterloo has expanded the Eby Farm Playground by adding more play elements, accessible gathering spaces, seating areas and sensory stimulation features.
These changes help create a more inclusive environment for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy Waterloo Park.
Project background
In late 2021, the City of Waterloo applied to the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s Community Building Fund to upgrade an existing play area at Eby Farm in Waterloo Park to one with an accessible rubberized surface. The application was supported by the Grand River Accessibility Advisory Committee (GRAAC), Waterloo Park Advisory Committee and the Friends of Waterloo Park. In January 2022, the City was advised that the grant application was approved, and in May 2023 the City of Waterloo re-opened the playground with an accessible surface.
In Fall 2024, the City further enhanced the Eby Farm Playground by improving the neighbouring play area to better support inclusive play.
