Extended work hours on waste collection days

July 13, 2026

The City of Kitchener is reconstructing Farrier Drive and Farrier Place. Construction began in June 2026 and is being completed by Musselman Excavating Limited. This project is part of the City's 2026 Capital Works Program, which focuses on replacing aging roads, sanitary and storm sewers, watermains, and sidewalks to meet current and future community needs.

Work on the project is continuing. To make sure garbage collection can take place within the construction area, the City and the Region of Waterloo have arranged for waste collection to occur at 7 a.m.

To help move residents' bins to collection points and keep the project moving efficiently, construction crews may need to start work as early as 6 a.m. on collection days.

To allow this early morning work, the City of Kitchener and its contractor, Musselman Excavating Limited, have been granted a noise exemption.

Residents may hear construction equipment, including loaders and vehicle backup alarms, during these early hours. The contractor will do its best to keep noise to a minimum. Temporary lighting may also be used at the construction site when needed.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during construction.
