Surveyors in the area

October 7, 2026

Over the next few weeks, you may notice survey crews working in your neighbourhood. They will be collecting information to help plan the reconstruction of your street.

The City of Kitchener has hired MTE Consultants Inc. to work with City staff on the design of this project.

To prepare the design, survey crews will collect information from the street and the frontage of nearby properties. This includes recording existing features such as trees, gardens, steps, walkways and driveways.

Survey crews should not interfere with your normal activities. If you have questions, they will be happy to identify themselves and explain the work.

The reconstruction project is being planned to replace aging underground infrastructure and improve the street. Possible improvements being considered include:

  • upgrading storm sewers, sanitary sewers and watermains
  • installing additional fire hydrants where needed
  • replacing sanitary and water service connections from the new mains to the property line
  • installing curbs, gutters and sidewalks
  • resurfacing or reconstructing the roadway
  • replacing driveway ramps with concrete
  • installing or replacing retaining walls where required

A public open house will be held for residents and property owners to learn more about the project. City staff and project consultants will be available to discuss the proposed improvements, answer questions and explain how the work may affect you.

Construction is currently anticipated to begin in spring 2028.

If you have questions or concerns about this project, please contact the project manager Diana Lupsa, by phone at 519-783-8422 or by email.
