Additional technical reports available for Kitchener 2051

May 29, 2026

We have released four additional technical reports on how different approaches to growth could impact infrastructure, transportation, and finances. Here’s a quick overview:

Technical Memorandum No. 2: Transportation Analysis

This report examines how different Growth Scenarios affect transportation capacity, travel patterns, and infrastructure needs. It uses Regional travel demand modeling to compare current (2026) and future (2041) conditions, including planned network improvements and mode share targets.

Technical Memorandum No. 3: Sanitary Analysis

This report evaluates how growth will impact the City’s wastewater system using an updated sanitary model. It finds that existing infrastructure can generally support growth within built-up areas, though some localized upgrades and ongoing monitoring will be required.

Technical Memorandum No. 4: Water Distribution

This report looks at how growth affects the water distribution system. While the network can accommodate growth with targeted upgrades, regional water supply constraints remain a key consideration, and some projects may require phased or conditional servicing.

Technical Memorandum No. 5: Financial Analysis

This report assesses the financial impact of growth under the preferred scenario, including operating costs, revenues, and capital investments required to support new development.
