What we learned and what's next

25 July 2025

Through in-person events, school visits, conversations with residents and digital feedback collected through this page, over 150 community members shared their thoughts on the new park.

What we learned:

  • There was a strong desire for a park with shaded areas and a variety of seating and gathering spaces.
  • Residents want spaces to play for all ages and abilities, including toddlers, adults and seniors.
  • Since the park is close to the road, additional safety measures should be considered, like having buffers, fencing or walls.
  • Many residents would like to see a nature-focused park with small-scale water elements and art that celebrates the local heritage.

How this will be used:

The feedback we’ve gathered so far will help inform the initial designs for the new Margaret Ave Park.

What’s next:

Next, we’ll put together a design brief that reflects what we learned from the community. Using that brief, we’ll create two early design options for the park. Then, we'll share those two options and ask for more feedback through events and other outreach.
