    Skating and Watching Hockey

by DhFernandes, about 1 month ago
The hours on the ice for Figure Skating 5 -6 Days a week. Learning to do the Waltz on skates and being in the skating shows. The skating races for Manchester Public School and Lincoln Ave. Watching friends Speed skate. The Hornet hockey games we would go to. Oh, the amount of time spent in that arena over the years, to signing my kids up to Learn to Skate. It was like a home away from home. If I wasn't carrying my skating bag it seemed weird to be there. To this past year of getting to roller skate. The... Continue reading

    So Many Great Memories!

by B. Little, 8 months ago

One of my favourite things to do as a teen was to go to the Hornet games! Not exactly sure how much we watched the games or just ran around with our friends. Later in life we were at this arena a lot with our boys whether it was learn to skate, skating races or minor hockey. Our family always loved going to the Winterhawks games and my boys were excited to get to know the players. My oldest then went on to play for the Winterhawks at 14 which was exciting and nerve racking at the same time. He... Continue reading

Sneaking in to get pucks and watch the Cambridge Hornets

    by Angus, 9 months ago

Running down to the the rink and having one of us pay to get into the game then that person would open the side doors to let at least half a dozen of us kids in to run around grabbing all the practice pucks that went over the boards then grabbing some fries and sitting on the flat topped wooden cover in the far corner that went from the upper level to the lower so we could have the best seats in the house to cheer on our team.

    Galt Skating Races

    by Mhooper, 11 months ago

My favourite memory at the Galt Arena was participating in the skating races! I was representing Saginaw Public School and was so proud and incredibly nervous to skate in front of the huge crowd of kids, parents, teachers, from all other schools. At the time it seemed like the biggest deal. I wore the pinny for my school with the big Saginaw Star , had my helmet on and all I could hear was noise at the starting line. It was a special atmosphere in there for all us kids. That moment where it was my chance to race I... Continue reading
