Project overview
The Region of Waterloo is working to improve Myers Road from Water Street to Branchton Road, in the City of Cambridge.
This project will:
- Address the deteriorated pavement condition.
- Urbanize the corridor with storm sewer and curbs to improve drainage and help reduce traffic speeds.
- Make it easier and safer for people to walk, bike or roll through the area.
- Upgrade underground infrastructure.
Previous engagement
The first public engagement period for this project was held in April 2019, at which time we presented a preferred design and asked for public input. At the second public meeting in 2021, we shared an updated preferred design concept for Myers Road based on feedback received from the first public consultation. The information package and drawings from these engagement periods are available in the documents on the right side of this page.
Project update
Since the last public engagement session in 2021, staff have implemented some short-term safety improvements on Myers Road. These improvements included a pedestrian ramp connecting Myers Road to California Road, traffic calming measures and pedestrian crossings. These improvements support people walking and rolling through the area while work continues on the full road reconstruction design.
Upcoming engagement
The project team is currently working with project partners to refine the preferred design concept. We will be bringing this design concept to the public for feedback in 2026 before beginning detailed design of the roadway. This will bring us to a 2028–2030 construction period. You can follow this page to get updates on upcoming engagement opportunities.
