Throughout the Summer/Fall of 2024, City of Waterloo's Municipal Enforcement Services reviewed the city's noise bylaw to inform new noise regulations, exemption processes and bylaw updates.
The purpose of the noise bylaw review was to better understand the needs of the community to ensure the noise bylaw stays relevant and effective. Since its last update in 2017, Waterloo has experienced new growth and changes especially related to new noise sources, emerging challenges and outdated regulations and/or exemptions.
Following the review, city staff proposed changes to the Waterloo noise bylaw, which were approved during the May 26 Council meeting.
This project is now in its final implementation stage.
