As we approach the colder weather season, freezing of temporary water supply lines becomes a concern. Our contractor will take measures to try to prevent freezing. These could include use of insulated blankets or leaving a port on the system open to keep the water moving.

However, based on the current weather forecast, the individual connections of properties affected by this road reconstruction project are at risk of freezing. If you live at an affected property you will receive a letter from us.

If you live at an affected property, to help prevent your water service from freezing, during sub-zero days and nights please keep a tap running. Water should be left to run in a stream of no more than a pencil width, preferably the cold-water faucet in the laundry room (ensure the tub is free of debris).

To offset the costs of the water used for this, affected properties will receive a $40 credit on an upcoming Kitchener Utilities bill.

You will be notified through a second letter when the risk of freezing of the water service has passed and you can stop running the stream of water.
