About the Project
The Township of Wilmot will be commencing a sanitary sewer relining project on Centennial Crescent, Hillview Crescent, and Huron Street in New Hamburg. The project is anticipated to begin on August 10, 2026, and is expected to be completed by the end of September 2026.
The Township will be rehabilitating existing sanitary sewers using a Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining system, commonly referred to as a "No-Dig" sewer rehabilitation method. This process requires little to no excavation, reducing impacts to residents, traffic, landscaping, and the surrounding environment.
The CIPP technology installs a new structural liner inside the existing sewer pipe, creating a durable and long-lasting pipe within the original sewer. This rehabilitation method:
- Extends the service life of the sewer infrastructure.
- Seals cracks and leaks within the existing pipe.
- Reduces groundwater infiltration and inflow (I/I) into the sanitary sewer system.
- Minimizes disruptions associated with traditional open-cut construction.
- Reduces construction costs and greenhouse gas emissions by avoiding extensive excavation

Stages
The existing sanitary sewer pipes will be cleaned and inspected using closed-circuit television (CCTV) equipment.
This work is expected to take approximately two weeks.
Following inspection, the sewer liner will be custom designed and manufactured based on the existing pipe conditions.
The CIPP liner will then be installed and cured within the existing sewer pipe. Final CCTV inspections will be completed to verify the quality of the installation.
Installation and final inspection activities are expected to take approximately 4 weeks.
