About the project
As part of ongoing efforts to improve safety and service on the Regional road network, Regional staff reviewed traffic operations at the intersection of Sawmill Road and Ebycrest Road, including safety performance and the societal cost of injury crashes. Based on the findings, a roundabout was recommended for the intersection.
The public was invited to provide input on the proposed roundabout at this location on February 2022.
The Region of Waterloo is replacing the existing traffic signals at Sawmill Road/Bloomingdale Road and Ebycrest Road with a single-lane roundabout. The project also includes new multi-use paths, concrete curbs, a new asphalt road surface and underground infrastructure upgrades to improve safety, traffic flow and connections for people walking and cycling.
