About the project
The Region of Waterloo is replacing the Scheifele Bridge in Woolwich. This bridge is on Northfield Drive going over the Conestogo River. An environmental assessment was completed for this project in 2023 to determine the most practical and cost-effective options for widening and reconstructing the current bridge to accommodate future traffic volumes and enhanced pedestrian, buggy and cycling facilities.
The design of the bridge will include paved shoulders for buggies and cyclists on both sides and a sidewalk with a concrete barrier separating pedestrians from traffic on the east side of the bridge.
Construction of the bridge is scheduled to begin in spring 2026. To access the site during construction, site preparation will occur between December 1 2025 and March 31, 2026.
