July 9, 2026

Traffic Monitoring Update

In addition to the radar boards that have been installed, four temporary speed humps have been installed at/near:

  • 90 John St E
  • 54/56 John St E
  • 125 Allen St E
  • 33 Allen St E

Construction Update

Note: Construction updates are being provided as a courtesy to keep residents appraised of upcoming work. Due to the nature of construction, schedules can quickly change, and residents should be prepared for unexpected changes.

Construction works between now and July 24 includes:

For Phase 1A (Willow to Herbert):

  • Complete curb, sidewalk and driveway aprons.
  • Topsoil and sod boulevard and behind sidewalk.
  • Placement of granular road base.

For Phase 1B (Herbert to Mary):

  • Removal of roadway asphalt.
  • Transition properties over to temporary watermain.
  • Disconnect existing watermain from the broader system (will involve water shutdown).
  • Begin replacement of sanitary sewer.

Reminder for residents of Phase 1B, once removal of the roadway asphalt begins, driveway access will be generally limited to evenings and weekends. Please use parking passes that have been delivered to park on nearby streets. Reminder: parking signage in the area has been altered temporarily during construction. There are some locations that no longer allow street parking. Please follow the posted signage.

Sinkhole at Bowman and Union

A sinkhole has formed at the intersection of Bowman and Union due to a break in the storm sewer. The sewer will be excavated and a temporary repair made, with the full replacement of the sewer already part of Phase 2 in 2027. The repair of the sinkhole may block the intersection. Residents trying to access Bowman Ave from Union are advised to keep an eye out for signs and construction activity in the intersection. Use Lucan Ave and Roger St to access Bowman Ave.
