What is being proposed?

  • The Region of Waterloo is planning a new mixed-income rental housing development on this site with a future development partner, to help meet the urgent need for housing in our community. At least 30% of units will be affordable.
  • The project has been shaped by feedback from the neighbourhood and the design aims to fit within the surrounding community.

What is being discussed with community and decided at this stage?

  • The Region has submitted an application to the City to change the zoning for 41 Westhill Drive to allow more homes (more dwelling units), and fewer parking spaces than the current zoning requires.
  • After a zoning decision is made by the City of Waterloo, the Region will choose a development partner to move the project ahead through detailed design and construction.

What you can do at the open house:

  • Speak with Region staff about the project, proposed zoning change and future development
  • Share comments and questions about the project
