Hello Mooregate Crescent community,

Over the last several months, the project plans have been reviewed by staff and Regional Council. This included a decision in December 2025 to pause construction work due to financial pressures. At a recent council meeting on Wednesday, April 22, Regional Council approved a decision to continue postponing construction and for staff to explore new options to help move the project forward.

The new options that staff will explore include:

• Establishing a process for non-profit organizations and co-operatives to show their interest in working with the Region to develop the site
• Exploring different funding opportunities, including Build Canada Homes, a new initiative from the federal government

The Region is also starting the process to demolish the townhomes on the property. When a demolition permit is issued and a contractor is hired, we will share timelines for when that work will begin. We know this may raise questions for you about the impacts on your neighbourhood. We will continue to share updates with you as more information becomes available.
