Project Update - Spring 2024

Hello Mooregate Crescent Community!

Over the spring months the project team has had great progress with the design details for the redevelopment of 15-105 Mooregate Crescent. The following is a highlight of some of the design details and upcoming work to be done:

Current Detailed Design Progress

  • Finalizing design details of the unit mix and layout
  • Finalizing design details of the child care spaces
  • Revising design details for a site plan application re-submission

What to expect in the summer months?

A Minor Variance application will be submitted to the City of Kitchener requesting a small variance from the parking requirements and from the commercial floor area requirement. A minor variance is a change or small variation from the specific requirements of the City’s zoning by-law. Minor variance requests are presented to the City’s Committee of Adjustment for consideration. The Committee of Adjustment is guided by the Planning Act and consists of citizen members who are authorized to make decisions on minor variances. At the meeting, the project team will present why these changes are required for this specific project.

Anticipated Construction Start

The design of the project is progressing well. It is anticipated that construction will begin in Fall 2025.
