Consultation has concluded
Kitchener is growing, and in order to meet the diverse needs of our community there are several planning documents and tools we can use to bring our vision of an innovative, vibrant and caring community into reality.
One of these tools is the zoning bylaw that is used to implement the goals, objectives and policy directions of the city's Official Plan and its Secondary Plans (currently under review). The city's current zoning bylaw is over 30 years old and it requires an update. Over the last couple of years, we've been reviewing and updating our zoning bylaw in stages through a project called CRoZBy (Comprehensive review of the zoning bylaw) .
We are currently getting ready to finalize the residential component of the zoning bylaw, and need input from you on three keys areas.
The maximum width of driveways and garages in low rise residential areas
The best way to achieve transition between high rise buildings and low rise residential buildings
Regulations for additional residential units (e.g. basement apartments and coach houses)
The feedback provided in this survey will be used to inform the residential component of the zoning bylaw that will go to council for approval in Fall 2019.
